How an organization
decorates, facilitates, and maintains its public washroom can say a lot about
how that organization regards and treats its customers. In 2010, Cintas decided
to expand its annual Best Restroom Award contest up here to Canada. It’s
mission? To find and recognize memorable
public bathrooms from around Canada.
Last year’s prize was awarded to 1000 Islands Duty Free in Lansdowne, Ontario, and it’s not difficult
to see why. Boasting a clean, high-class
atmosphere coupled with an elegant mixture of classic and modern design,
travellers making their last stop before crossing the Canada-US border couldn’t
ask for a better pit stop. Bowl-style
sinks sit atop polished granite counters, and toilets are each given their own
privacy-enhancing room – a welcome change to the cold and wide-gap dividers so
common in public restrooms.
The contest is now
entering its 6th year with finalists likely to be announced this
summer.
Being based right here
in Alberta, we at The Gentlemen Plumbers are anxious to see if a washroom from Calgary
will make the cut this year!
